Why the Poppies?

Red Canadian poppies were inspired by Lt Col John McCrae’s poem, ‘Flanders Field’, they also signify the bloodshed of trench warfare and symbolise the wild flowers that were the first plants to grow in the churned-up soil of soldiers’ graves in Belgium and northern France..
